Frederick William Hulme

Landscape painter, born in Swinton, Yorkshire, who painted mostly subjects in Wales and Surrey, and often idyllic landscapes with rustic figures and animals in a clear fresh style similar to Shayer and Creswick. He was taught by his mother who was a painter on porcelain.

He exhibited at the Birmingham Academy in 1841. In 1844 he went to London, where he worked as an illustrator and engraver. He exhibited at the Royal Academy between 1852 and 1884 and also at the British Institute.
