The Decorative Antiques and Textiles Fair

Back in the 1980s, the design trade was looking for more unusual antiques that were rarely available at the major London antiques fairs, so our aim was to give decorators and designers everything they wanted under one roof. The idea came from Patricia Harvey, a dealer in decorative antiques. Her many interior designer clients were clamouring for an easier way to source stock for their clients. The format brought together a wide range of decorative antiques and twentieth century design. Mixed with formal antiques, collectors’ items, art and accessories from the 20th century to the quirky, the formula proved an instant hit. Exhibitors were encouraged to display their stock in a room-set fashion. Using their highly creative skills, the dealers’ stands provide ideas and inspiration for how to display items at home. Many of our exhibitors also work as designers to their clients, sourcing stock and advising on display. In 1997 we pioneered our venue, a marquee, now Evolution, in Battersea Park, a location that has since become an almost year-round event hot-spot. In December 2008, the Decorative Fair was bought by David and Jane Juran; David has been an exhibitor, as Magus Antiques, at the Fair for many years. He has retained its unique spirit and vibrancy, and the friendly relaxed atmosphere appreciated by both exhibitors and visitors alike.

The Decorative Antiques and Textiles Fair at Battersea

27th September 2016 to 2nd October 2016

"The

The Decorative Antiques & Textiles Fair has led the way as the antiques event for interior design, and was the first in the UK to offer a ‘look’ for decorating. From relatively modest beginnings in 1985, we have grown to encompass more than 140 exhibitors from across the UK and Europe.

Expect to find a wealth of wonderful period design: anything from £15 vintage French wine glasses to valuable paintings by well-known modern British and contemporary artists such as Barbara Hepworth and David Hockney, Peter Blake and Banksy.

Antiques dating from the 17th century to 1914 abound. Art Deco, post-war and later 20th century design makes up around one quarter of objects and furniture for sale. Unlike traditional antiques fairs, our dealers style their stands as room-sets so visitors can imagine how items might work in their own homes.
