Italian 1840 - 1870 Carlo Grubacs was born circa 1812. He studied painting and drawing from an early age and his keen attention to draughtsmanship ensured his success as a painter of architectural views. Grubacs specialised in painting views of Venice and in doing so he continued the great tradition of the fine 17th and 18th Century artists such as Canaletto and Guardi. Grubacs was schooled in Germany. The Kestner Museum in Hanover houses two views of Venice by him and the House of Oldenbourg has nine views of Venice and two of Athens.
