British 1811-1865 A London landscape painter, the second son of Edward Williams, who after his marriage to Clara Boddington in 1832 adopted her name in order to avoid confusion with other members of the famous Williams family, whose work plays such a major part in the Victorian period.Whilst the influence of his father can clearly be seen in his earlier work, he quickly developed a more realistic interpretation.Boddington was a frequent exhibitor at Suffolk Street, where he exhibited some 244 works, and also at the Royal Academy and British Institute.
