Henry Calvert

1798-1869

Henry Calvert was born in Manchester in 1798 and was a painter of sporting pictures.

Titles of his works exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1826 – 1854 include: A Brood Mare, The Wynnstay Hunt and The Royal Pair of the Jungle.

Calvert was a very competent animal painter whose work can be compared at its best with H.B. Chalon and R.B. Davies.

He worked mainly in Wales.

He died circa 1869.
