Artists Biography
Henry Thring & Charles Waller Shayer
1826 - 1914
They were greatly influenced by their father’s paintings and there is no doubt that they learnt their skills from him. They lived and worked jointly and also in collaboration with their father until his death in 1879.
Henry was at his best when painting forest glades or wooded avenues with filtered sunlight and Charles particularly excelled at portraying animals; thus the combination of their talents is remarkable.
