Alfred Dawson

Alfred Dawson was a landscape painter and etcher who worked at Chertsey and made illustrations for a history of Dorset and contributed to ‘The Portfolio’ between 1884 and 1892.

He was the son of Henry Dawson and younger brother of Henry Thomas Dawson.

Alfred exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1860 until 1889 including many pen drawings and etchings. Titles include “A Page from Gray’s Elegy“ and “Leaving the Plough“. Dawson also exhibited at Suffolk Street and the British Institute as well as at various other venues throughout the British Isles.
