Giovanni Grubacs was born in Italy in 1829.

He, along, with his brother Carlo executed the most famous Venetian views with photographic precision and the evident stylish hand of the 18th Century. The colours and shading however are more typical of the Romantic period of the 19th Century. His success is confirmed by the high prices they have achieved at international auctions.
